FRS, which stands for Family Radio Service, is a relatively new frequency band that operates on the UHF radio spectrum (Ultra High Frequency). It is primarily used in walkie talkies for short length, low power applications such as work sites or camping grounds. One big advantage of your Cobra FRS two-way radio is that its use of the UHF radio band allows the radio to run on less power, giving you longer performance. You also experience much less interference on these devices than with other types of walkie talkies. The original Cobra PR950 battery is made of a NI-MH chemistry and will eventually wear down, losing its ability to hold a charge. If your radio is not operating for as long as it used to you'll need a replacement with about 700mAH capacity (milliamp-hours).
